Comfort Maximized From New Plants to Furnace Service

December 11, 2015

With winter settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any daylight, it can be difficult to always feel like your home is a cozy place to be. That extends far beyond completing annual furnace service too, because there are numerous things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your furnace is operating at its peak.

Here are a couple that we find particularly helpful here in Rock Hill:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean quite a bit of air is leaving your home. It goes without saying that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside too. There are a host of fixes that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are relatively basic fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Change your furnace filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s normally recommended to switch your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some could last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can leave you with a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they may potentially improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a number of contaminants that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to receive a reminder. Having furnace service performed annually helps you be sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 803-220-0761 to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
